A Great Place to Visit and Stay!
The Saskatoon branch of the People of Praise formed initially as an ecumenical Christian community in the mid-70’s, growing out of the charismatic renewal in western Canada. Beginning in 1980, about 90 men, women and children moved from throughout western Canada to form one community in Saskatoon. We became a branch of the People of Praise in 1990.
Presently there are about 25 adult members and 20 children. We meet weekly in facilities at Louise Avenue Congregational Church. Our leaders are Glenn Hilton (glenn.h@sasktel.net), Ray Hickey and Steve Rice.
Saskatoon is the largest city in the Province of Saskatchewan, with a population of 230,000. The city is located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River and was founded in the early 20th century as a temperance colony. Saskatoon was chosen as a prime location to build The People of Praise because of the culture, the economy and the growth potential. We are proud of our university, with its 20,000 students in 13 colleges. Saskatoon is an agricultural center for the northern part of the province and a center for potash and uranium mining. The city is noted for affordable housing, more hours of sunshine than any other major Canadian city, and more golf courses per capita than anywhere in North America.
